"It's Fine for Someone Else to Take Over After Securing Seats"

[Asia Economy Reporters Kum Boryeong and Kim Youngwon] Ahn Cheol-soo, the People Power Party leader candidate ahead of the March 8 party convention, pledged, "I will step down as party leader after winning next year's general election."

Ahn explained, "After securing seats, it would be fine for someone else to take over as party leader. I only intend to dedicate myself to winning the general election."

He continued, "My life motto is dedication. When everyone was engulfed in despair after the last general election defeat, I made the decision to run for Seoul mayor to keep the hope of regime change alive and gave up my presidential dream because regime change was more important. There is only one remaining goal: to complete regime change by winning next year's general election," he said.

In his closing remarks at the debate, Ahn reiterated, "I promised today that I will step down as party leader immediately after winning the general election. When regime change is completed with a landslide victory in the general election, my dream will be fulfilled."
