[Breaking] 'Kim Hak-ui Emergency Detention' Lee Gyu-won Sentence Suspended, Lee Kwang-cheol and Cha Gyu-geun Acquitted

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Regarding the emergency travel ban on former Vice Minister of Justice Kim Hak-ui, on the afternoon of the 15th, the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 27 (Presiding Judge Kim Ok-gon) suspended the sentence of 4 months imprisonment for Prosecutor Lee Gyu-won of Chuncheon District Prosecutors' Office and showed leniency. Former Head of the Immigration and Foreign Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Justice Cha Gyu-geun and former Blue House Civil Affairs Secretary Lee Kwang-cheol were acquitted.

The court stated, "At the time of the travel ban, it was already a foregone conclusion that a reinvestigation of Kim Hak-ui was underway," and added, "The defendant did not commit the offenses for personal gain."
