Discussion on Institutional Improvements to Expand Content Exports Gains Momentum

Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Service Industry Development TF Content Team Meeting

A forum for discussions aimed at resolving difficulties faced by content companies and generating tangible results will be held. On the 15th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold the 2nd meeting of the Service Industry Development TF Content Team at the CKL Enterprise Support Center in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. Related research institutes and public institutions will discuss institutional improvement plans regarding content planning and development, investment expansion, export support, utilization of digital technology, and advancement of statistics.

The Service Industry Development TF is a temporary public-private joint organization established last December with the goal of securing new growth engines. The Content Team consists of Jeon Byeong-geuk, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, officials from related ministries (Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Science and ICT, Korea Communications Commission), and private members. Private members include Ko Jeong-min, professor at Hongik University; Ha Ju-yong, professor at Inha University; Kim Tae-yong, president of the Korea Broadcasting and Video Producers Association; Choi Jae-won, CEO of Anthology Studio; Kim Ji-won, director at SM Entertainment; Kim Hyuk, Chief Content Officer (CCO) at SK Broadband; Song Jin, head of the Policy Research Center at the Korea Creative Content Agency; Lee Yoon-kyung, head of the Cultural Industry Research Center at the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute; Lee Jun-woo, PM at the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation; and Lee Jae-young, head of the Planning and Coordination Headquarters at the Korea Information Society Development Institute. They will focus on discussing export support measures to significantly expand content exports and overcome the trade deficit crisis.


The forum will also listen to on-site opinions through a public hearing. Representatives from CJ ENM, Wavve, Film Monster, Korea Export-Import Bank, The Pinkfong Company, and Botto Superfood are scheduled to present and participate in discussions. Vice Minister Jeon said, "Through active discussions, we will derive policies that practically help the development of the content industry," and added, "We will reflect these in policies after coordination among related ministries."
