Golden Blue International announced on the 15th that it has launched a 1ℓ large-capacity version of its blended Scotch whisky, 'Old Castle.'
Old Castle was officially imported and distributed by Golden Blue International starting in November last year, and was previously released in a 700ml size. It is a product that embodies the experience and expertise of Norman Mathison, a master blender with 50 years of experience, who directly blended Golden Blue, the number one local whisky brand in Korea.
Old Castle is a blend of single malt whisky and single grain whisky with unique flavors, aged for at least three years in ex-bourbon barrels, allowing for a complex taste that combines sweetness and spiciness. Initially, it offers sweet vanilla and caramel aromas, with a finish of oak scent that harmonizes exquisitely. Notably, the slightly salty taste that emerges at the end is a distinctive characteristic of Old Castle.
Golden Blue International launched this new product anticipating an increase in entertainment channels seeking cost-effective whisky due to the recent popularity of highballs. Along with its excellent taste, it is also ideal as a highball base whisky at a reasonable price. Compared to the existing 700ml product, the volume has increased by about 1.43 times, but the price per ml has decreased, enhancing price competitiveness. The Old Castle 1ℓ product will be sold in various entertainment channels such as restaurants, pubs, and izakayas.
Kim Dong-wook, CEO of Golden Blue International, said, "The launch of the Old Castle 1ℓ product is part of our efforts to focus on the continuously changing liquor market trends and reflect consumer needs," adding, "We will continue to expand consumer choices through diversifying product sizes and strengthening sales channels."
