CJ Foodville announced on the 15th that it achieved a disability employment rate of 4.2% as of the end of last year.
This exceeds the mandatory disability employment rate of 3.1% by more than 35%, and is nearly three times higher than the domestic regular worker ratio of people with disabilities, which was 1.49% (as of 2021).
Last year, CJ Foodville established an ESG governance system under the CEO and declared the first year of ESG management. The four core values pursued in ESG management were defined as the ‘4Ps’: carbon neutrality (PLANET), human rights-centered (PEOPLE), mutual development (PARTNER), and compliance with principles (PRINCIPLE).
Among these, as part of human rights-centered management, the company actively worked to expand employment of people with disabilities and create a stable working environment.
They also focused on securing job diversity for people with disabilities. Previously limited to back-office support or simple clerical work, the roles were expanded to include face-to-face services directly interacting with customers.
Efforts are also being made to create a stable working environment for employees with disabilities. The HR manager in charge of hiring people with disabilities personally obtained a ‘Disability Vocational Life Counselor’ certification to carefully support employees by listening to any difficulties that may arise during job adaptation and performance.
Currently, the longest tenure of an employee with a disability at CJ Foodville is about 20 years, and the highest number of people with disabilities employed at a single VIPS store is five.
A CJ Foodville official said, “By employing job seekers who can work more passionately than anyone else when given the opportunity, we are fulfilling our social responsibility and realizing the value of diversity,” adding, “We will continue to take the lead in creating a workplace that respects ‘difference’ rather than ‘wrongness’ and works together.”
