Regarding this, Seoul explained, "While we had massively increased personnel to respond to COVID-19, the demand for personnel has significantly decreased due to the normalization of daily quarantine measures," adding, "The quota was frozen in line with the government's policy."

However, despite the decrease in recruitment demand, the number of separate recruitment positions for socially disadvantaged groups such as persons with disabilities and low-income individuals was maintained above the legally mandated employment ratio. Seoul added, "As a public institution, Seoul aims to set an example as an employer during these difficult times of high inflation and high interest rates."

The number of separate recruitment positions for socially disadvantaged groups is 116 for persons with disabilities (5% of total), 186 for low-income individuals (10% of grade 9 open competitive recruitment), and 70 for high school graduates (30% of technical grade 9 career recruitment), all exceeding the legally mandated employment ratios.

This year, new public officials will be recruited as follows: ▲1,969 through open competitive recruitment 351 through career competitive recruitment. By recruitment field, 1,237 in administrative positions 1,076 in technical positions 7 in research positions. By grade, 184 for grade 7 5 for grade 8 2,124 for grade 9 7 research officers.

The application period for the 1st open competitive and career competitive recruitment exam (2,059 positions) is from next month’s 13th to 17th and can be done through the local government application website. The written exam will be held on June 10, the announcement of written exam passers will be on July 12, and the final successful candidates will be announced on September 13.

The 2nd open competitive and career competitive recruitment exam (261 positions) is scheduled to be announced in June, with applications accepted in July and the written exam held on October 28. Jungsang Hoon, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Administration Bureau, said, “We look forward to many applications from talented individuals with expertise and capabilities so that Seoul can be reborn as a ‘coexistence city’ that walks with the vulnerable and a ‘global city’ full of charm.”
