Jeong Seo-young Pastor Appointed as New President of Hankichong... Acting President Normalizing Operations

[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Christian Council of Korea (CCK) announced on the 14th that Pastor Jeong Seoyoung was elected as the 28th president at the regular general meeting held on the same day.

On the 14th at 11 a.m., CCK held its 2023 regular general meeting at the Agape Hall on the 3rd floor of the Korea Christian Federation Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and elected Pastor Jeong Seoyoung, who was the sole candidate, as president.

With this, CCK ended the acting president system that had continued for over two years. In January 2020, CCK re-elected Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church as president, but some executives raised procedural issues and filed lawsuits, causing confusion.

In May of the same year, the Seoul Central District Court issued a provisional injunction suspending the duties of then-president Jeon Gwang-hoon, and in May of the following year, the court ruled the election meeting that elected Pastor Jeon invalid, resulting in the organization being operated under an acting system.

With the election of the new president, the temporary system that had continued for over two years with lawyer Kim Hyun-sung serving as acting president and interim president has now returned to a normal track.
