Yoon at Cheongju Traditional Market: "Government Supports Revitalization of Local Markets"

Revisiting Cheongju Yukgeori General Market After Over 10 Months
Hearing Challenges Such as Rising Fuel Costs and Economic Slowdown

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President Yoon Seok-yeol visited Yukgeori General Market in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do on the 14th and stated, "The government will spare no support to revitalize local markets, which are the foundation of our economy."


According to a press release from the presidential office, President Yoon made these remarks during a meeting with merchants held at Yukgeori General Market that afternoon. Last April, President Yoon visited Yukgeori General Market as a president-elect.


The meeting was attended by government officials and market merchants, including National Assembly Vice Speaker Jung Woo-taek, Minister of SMEs and Startups Lee Young, and Governor of Chungcheongbuk-do Kim Young-hwan.

Regarding the visit to Yukgeori Market, the presidential office stated, "It was intended to support and encourage the merchants facing difficulties due to recent price and fuel cost increases and economic slowdown."


President Yoon also toured several stores, purchased products, and listened to and encouraged merchants who are struggling with recent price and fuel cost increases and economic slowdown.


The presidential office explained, "Through this visit to the field of people’s livelihood, President Yoon once again emphasized his policy commitment to the revival of small business owners and the development of the Korean economy through a new era of local regions."
