On the 14th, Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will carry out fundraising and relief supply collection activities to help the people of Turkey and Syria who suffered damage from the large-scale earthquake.
The county will conduct a two-day fundraising campaign for public officials on the 14th and 15th, targeting all employees of the county office, including County Governor Sang-ik Lee.
In addition, together with the Community Chest of Korea, special fundraising activities will be conducted until the 28th targeting local institutions, social organizations, and residents.
Relief supplies will be accepted for five days from the 15th to the 21st at the Hampyeong Culture and Sports Center, focusing on winter clothing such as coats, jackets, raincoats, boots, jumpers, pants, gloves, and hats.
Earlier, on the 11th, village chiefs and residents of Haebo-myeon collected relief supplies such as blankets and clothing to help the disaster victims and delivered them to Eagle Logistics Center (located in Jung-gu, Incheon).
Following this, helping hands have continued to come from various sectors including the Hampyeong-gun branch of the Korean Traditional Music Association, Sonbul-myeon Nongak Troupe, and Singwang-myeon Nongak Troupe to support Turkey and Syria.
Residents who wish to donate relief funds can deposit money into the dedicated accounts of the Community Chest of Korea, the Korean Red Cross, or the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association.
The collected funds will be used for emergency relief activities for local residents, operation of temporary shelters for disaster victims, and medical support.
Governor Sang-ik Lee said, “I extend my deepest condolences to the disaster victims who suddenly lost their families and homes due to this unexpected disaster.”
