Yeongyang-gun Conducts the First Life-Sharing Blood Donation Campaign of the Year

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] On the 14th, Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, conducted the 2023 1st Life Sharing Love Blood Donation Campaign targeting employees and local residents, receiving support from the blood donation bus of Daegu·Gyeongbuk Blood Center at the county office front yard and the Endangered Species Restoration Center.

Amid difficulties in blood supply due to the aftermath of COVID-19, Yeongyang-gun has continuously promoted blood donation campaigns. Last year, 135 people participated in blood donation over three sessions, and this year, to ensure a stable blood supply, the Love Blood Donation Campaign is planned to be held quarterly, four times a year.


The eligible age for blood donation is from 16 to 69 years old. Those aged 65 and above can donate only if they are experienced donors aged 60 to 64. Before donation, individuals who have taken medication or traveled abroad undergo counseling, and only qualified persons can participate in blood donation.


Jang Yeo-jin, Director of Yeongyang-gun Public Health Center, said, “We are grateful to the citizens of Yeongyang-gun who actively participated in blood donation during the cold winter weather and the difficult period of blood supply due to COVID-19,” and added, “We will continue to strive to establish a stable blood donation culture, a noble practice that saves lives.”
