[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Bodyfriend announced on the 14th that it will continue to lead corporate social and ethical activities through ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management this year as well.
Bodyfriend recently received a 'Circular Resource Production Activity Certificate' and a 'Carbon Reduction Activity Certificate' from E-Circular Governance (Korea Electronics Product Resource Circulation Cooperative) for resource circulation of electronic products. Over the course of a year, it operated a collection and recycling system for 5,681 tons of waste electronic products, specifically massage chairs, producing 5,342 tons of circular resources and achieving a carbon reduction effect of 15,425 tCO2eq (the amount of greenhouse gas emissions converted to carbon dioxide equivalent).
The ability to achieve such a large amount of resource circulation and carbon reduction was thanks to continuous eco-friendly activities such as establishing a 'resource circulation system' that reduces waste through recycling furniture from exhibition halls, and the 'Plastic Zero Campaign' that stopped all single-use items in the company cafe.
In fact, since July 2018, Bodyfriend has been conducting the 'Plastic Zero Campaign' in its company cafe, ceasing the use of all disposable items. They have practiced using personal tumblers, paper packaging materials and straws, and providing reusable containers in the employee welfare facility's side dish store. They also continue upcycling by redesigning furniture, lighting, and home appliances from closed or relocated exhibition halls to fit the concept and interior of new exhibition halls. This gives new value to inventory items that could be discarded, minimizing waste, protecting the environment, and simultaneously increasing cost-saving effects.
