Netmarble and Kakao Entertainment Launch Webtoon Series for Virtual Girl Group Maeve

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] Netmarble announced on the 14th that it will simultaneously serialize the webtoon of the virtual girl group MAVE: on KakaoPage and Kakao Webtoon in collaboration with Kakao Entertainment.


The webtoon "MAVE: Another World" is a multiverse story based on the MAVE universe. It tells the story of four members who crash-land in South Korea, participate in an idol audition, and grow into a glamorous idol girl group and warriors who change the future.


This webtoon emphasizes visual enjoyment by focusing on the depiction of MAVE members' appearances and stage production. It incorporates fantasy elements such as the "ability to see quest windows like in a game" and the "ability to stop time."

To celebrate the launch of "MAVE: Another World," Kakao Entertainment is conducting a viewing event that rewards cash to readers who read the webtoon, as well as a "Senior Idol Support Battle" where idols from existing 'K-pop webtoon' and 'K-pop web novel' genres send support messages to MAVE.


MAVE, produced by Metaverse Entertainment, a subsidiary of Netmarble F&C, is a virtual idol group with a worldview that four children from the future crash-landed on Earth in 2023 in search of emotional freedom. The music video for their title track "Pandora," released along with their debut on the 25th of last month, surpassed 10 million views on YouTube in about two weeks. Kakao Entertainment is a strategic investor in Metaverse Entertainment and is responsible for MAVE's music planning and producing, as well as artist management.
