Seokdang Museum Collection Featured in KNN Documentary '100 Brilliant Heritage Selections'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Do you know the "treasure" preserved by Dong-A University?
The Seokdang Museum of Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) is the first museum opened in the Busan area in 1959. It was established about 20 years earlier than the Busan Municipal Museum, which opened in 1978.
The treasures held by this museum are enjoying a kind of "extravagance" toward future generations as the collection is introduced through the broadcast "Brilliant Heritage."
On the 13th, Dong-A University Seokdang Museum (Director Kim Ki-soo) announced that three treasures owned by the museum are being featured in the KNN documentary "Brilliant Heritage 100 Selections."
The program "Brilliant Heritage 100 Selections" selects 100 cultural properties designated as national treasures and treasures from Busan and Gyeongnam to widely promote regional history and cultural heritage.
On the broadcast scheduled for the 25th at 9 a.m., "Kim Yoon-gyeom's Yeongnam Travel Painting Album" will be introduced.
This episode will showcase the Yeongnam Travel Painting Album by Kim Yoon-gyeom, a literati painter from the late 18th century who expressed the beautiful landscapes of the Yeongnam region through true-view landscape paintings. Kim Yoon-gyeom's late Joseon period art, which captures the emotions of old real sceneries such as "Mowondae," "Haeinsa Temple," and "Taejongdae" with brushstrokes, will be summoned to South Korea after more than 300 years.
On March 4th next month, "Ahn Jung-geun's Calligraphy" will be aired.
The broadcast, which will be aired shortly after Samiljeol (March 1st Movement Day), will introduce calligraphy containing the spirit of Ahn Jung-geun, who resisted Japanese invasion for the country. Through "Gyeon-ri-sa-ui-gyeon-wi-su-myeong (見利思義見危授命)," viewers can witness Ahn Jung-geun's noble spirit of sacrifice.
Earlier, on December 17th last year, the "Gilt-bronze Standing Buddha Statue from Borisa Temple Site in Uiryeong," presumed to have been made during the Unified Silla period, was introduced.
Dong-A University Seokdang Museum opened as the first museum in Busan in 1959. The Seokdang Museum building, currently located on Dong-A University's Bumin Campus, was used as the Busan temporary government office during the Korean War and is one of the "heritages of Busan as the wartime refuge capital during the Korean War."
It passed the Cultural Heritage Administration's World Heritage Subcommittee review last December and is expected to be listed on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list.
The Seokdang Museum holds over 23,000 artifacts, including 2 national treasures (Sim Ji-baek's Certificate of Merit for Founding the Nation, Donggwoldo) and 18 treasures.
