[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province was selected as the best institution in the 2022 Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation. With this, Gyeonggi Province earned the honor of being the first metropolitan local government to be selected as the best institution for four consecutive years.
The Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation is conducted annually by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission to improve the level of civil service in administrative agencies and provide proactive civil services desired by the public.
The evaluation targets a total of 306 institutions nationwide, including central government agencies, metropolitan and provincial offices of education, metropolitan cities and provinces, and basic local governments. This evaluation assessed civil service tasks handled over one year from September 2021 to August 2022, divided into five categories: civil administration strategy and system, operation of civil service systems, handling of complaints through the National Sinmungo, grievance complaint handling, and civil service satisfaction.
Gyeonggi Province received the highest grade, 'Grade A,' in this evaluation, achieving the record of being selected as the best institution for four consecutive years since 2019.
The province received excellent evaluations for reducing required documents for civil service through administrative information sharing and activation of public MyData, as well as improvements in civil administration and systems via Gyeonggi Minwon24.
Additionally, continuous efforts to improve civil services, such as systematic management of civil service manuals, implementation of various policies including monthly comprehensive civil service analysis reports, and efforts to resolve group conflict complaints, also received high scores.
Yoo Tae-il, Director of the Provincial Autonomy Administration Bureau, said, "As a result of continuous efforts to improve civil services, we were able to achieve the good outcome of being selected as the best institution for four consecutive years, the first among metropolitan local governments. We will continue to strive to improve civil service systems and communicate more with residents so that they can receive civil services easily and conveniently."
