[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Seoul Agricultural Technology Center announced on the 14th that it will operate a free 'Beekeeping Expert Training' program for citizens starting next month to revitalize the high value-added beekeeping industry. From the 21st, the center will recruit 30 participants over ten days on the Seoul Agricultural Technology Center website.
The training will be held every Wednesday from September 29 to October 11, totaling 25 sessions (100 hours). The training fee is free of charge.
The program is designed to cover a wide range of knowledge from basic to professional skills necessary for starting a beekeeping business, including ▲beekeeping industry outlook ▲ecology and management of honeybees ▲honey harvesting practice ▲royal jelly harvesting methods ▲visits to beekeeping farms.
To provide hands-on beekeeping practice, a beekeeping site has been installed on the rooftop of the Agricultural Technology Center, allowing trainees to directly manage beehives and develop their skills and capabilities.
Participation in the training is open to beginners in beekeeping and Seoul citizens who wish to start a business. Applicants can apply by reserving on the center’s website from the 21st to the 2nd of next month and submitting application documents via email. The selection results will be available on the center’s website on the 8th of next month.
Jangtae Jo, Director of the Seoul Agricultural Technology Center, said, “Compared to other industries, beekeeping requires relatively low initial investment costs, making it relatively easy to start a business. It is advantageous for income generation by producing various beekeeping products such as honey, royal jelly, pollen, propolis, and beeswax.” He added, “We expect the beekeeping expert training to provide practical and systematic education for those who wish to start a beekeeping business.”
