Ranked 1st Among 82 Counties Nationwide, Prime Minister's Commendation Awarded
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, received the highest grade, "Ga" grade, in the "2022 Civil Service Comprehensive Evaluation" jointly hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
It ranked first nationwide among counties in basic local governments and received a Prime Minister's institutional commendation, as well as a special grant of 120 million won as a financial incentive.
The "Civil Service Comprehensive Evaluation" is conducted through both document evaluation and on-site inspection in five areas: civil service administration strategy, civil service system operation, handling of civil complaints via the National Sinmungo, handling of grievance complaints, and civil service satisfaction, targeting 306 institutions nationwide (46 central, 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education, 17 metropolitan, and 226 basic local governments) over one year (September 2021 to August 2022).
The highest grade, "Ga," is awarded to the top 10% of each county group, and Yeongyang-gun was the only one in Daegu and Gyeongbuk to receive the highest grade.
Yeongyang-gun received very high scores in the fields of civil service administration strategy, civil service system operation, and handling of civil complaints via the National Sinmungo.
This is the result of focused efforts since July 2020 based on laws related to civil complaint handling to improve the level of civil service, including operating the Life Civil Complaint Immediate Response Team, shortening the civil complaint processing period and preventing delays, discovering civil service policies considerate of digitally vulnerable groups, and providing incentives to outstanding civil complaint handlers.
County Governor Dochang Oh said, "Yeongyang-gun's standing as the top institution in the nationwide civil service comprehensive evaluation is the result of all departments working as one. Following the achievement of the highest grade, the first and only in Gyeongbuk in the 2021 civil service comprehensive evaluation, let us take pride and responsibility as the best in the nation and do our best to provide civil service that moves the residents."
