[Asia Economy Reporter Byeon Seon-jin] Although there were expectations of a temporary increase due to the indoor mask mandate being changed to a recommendation on the 30th of last month, the number of new confirmed cases on the 13th was the lowest since the end of June last year.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, 5,174 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the cumulative total to 30,355,373.


The number of new confirmed cases decreased by 6,877 from the previous day (12,051) due to the weekend effect. It also decreased by 673 compared to a week ago on the 6th (5,847). This is the lowest number of confirmed cases in 231 days since June 27 last year (3,419). Although the first stage of indoor mask adjustment was implemented on the 30th of last month, the downward trend of the outbreak continues.


Among the new confirmed cases, 16 were imported from overseas.


The number of critically ill patients hospitalized was 263, down by 5 from the previous day. The number of critically ill patients has remained in the 200s for eight consecutive days.


There were 11 new COVID-19 related deaths. The cumulative death toll is 33,747, with a fatality rate of 0.11%.
