Conducting Subway Promotion Campaign While Staying on the Platform
Scheduled Practical Consultation with Seoul City
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] The National Solidarity for the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (Jeonjangyeon) will not conduct subway boarding and alighting protests during the morning commute until the 23rd of next month. During this period, they plan to hold working-level consultations with the Seoul Metropolitan Government regarding demands such as the disability rights budget.
Jeonjangyeon announced on the 12th, "Until March 23, we will not board the subway but will stay on the platform and declare the 'Dalbogi Movement with Citizens' in the form of subway publicity campaigns."
The 'Dalbogi Movement,' which will continue until the 23rd of next month, means "Please look at the moon, not just the finger."
They also stated that they will hold a consultation with Kim Sanghan, Director of Welfare Policy at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, on the afternoon of the 2nd of next month regarding four demands, including ▲ an apology for the Oido Station lift fall accident and the failure to fulfill the promise of 100% elevator installation in subway stations ▲ responses to inquiries related to the 2024 Seoul Metropolitan Government disability rights budget.
Jeonjangyeon had a meeting with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon on the 2nd but failed to find common ground; however, they had agreed to suspend subway protests until the 13th.
