Gyeongnam Province Issues Heavy Snow Warnings and Alerts, Mobilizes Full '雪' Response Efforts

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gyeongsangnam-do is expanding snow removal operations across all cities and counties in the province on the 10th.


Gyeongnam Province announced that as of 4 a.m. on the day, in accordance with the heavy snow warnings and alerts issued by the Korea Meteorological Administration for the Gyeongnam region, all available snow removal equipment in all cities and counties has been deployed.


They have undertaken safety management measures including ▲expanding the areas for spreading de-icing agents ▲conducting patrol activities to prevent damage to vulnerable structures such as vinyl greenhouses from snow accumulation ▲providing information through village broadcasts, TV subtitle broadcasts, and emergency disaster text messages.

Earlier, at 11 a.m. on the 9th, a situation assessment meeting was held, and from 6 p.m., the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters began emergency Level 1 duty.


The headquarters is implementing measures to prevent casualties and facility damage in response to snow and rain forecasts and is on emergency duty to prepare for safety accidents.


The Korea Meteorological Administration reported that as of 4 a.m. on the 10th, heavy snow warnings were issued for 12 cities and counties in Gyeongnam, including Jinju, Sacheon, Gimhae, Uiryeong, Haman, Changnyeong, Goseong, Hadong, Sancheong, Hamyang, Geochang, and Hapcheon, and a heavy snow alert was in effect for Sancheong.


A Gyeongnam Province official said, “We are continuing snow removal operations to prevent traffic disruptions caused by the snow and rain that fell overnight,” and added, “We hope people use public transportation as much as possible and drive safely when operating vehicles.”
