According to Assemblyman Im Hyeong-seok on the 9th, the Statistics Korea's future population projection data showed that last year, the proportion of elderly population aged 65 or older in Jeonnam was 24.9%, the highest rate nationwide.
Assemblyman Im said, "By 2030, it is expected that about one-third of Jeonnam's population, 32.9%, will be elderly population," and added, "Jeonnam Province is expected to experience a rapid natural population decline, so it must boldly promote projects with an urgent mindset."
He continued, "It is necessary to promote the expansion of housing projects for newlyweds and multi-child families that encourage the marriage and childbirth of the incoming young generation, as well as support for young people's stable living to attract the youth generation."
He also urged, "The Population and Youth Policy Office should take responsibility for population issues and actively carry out projects, and actively conduct publicity and campaigns to induce population inflow and settlement."
