[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] The first model of GMC, General Motors' (GM) premium pickup and sport utility vehicle (SUV) brand, the full-size pickup truck Sierra, achieved a complete sell-out of its initial shipment just two days after online contracts began on the 7th.
On the 9th, Carlos Minert, Vice President of Sales and Service at GM Korea, stated, "The high customer response to the GMC Sierra upon its launch is the result of a successful premium strategy targeting a niche market," adding, "As additional shipments are currently underway, prompt vehicle delivery will continue."
The Sierra, GMC's flagship model, is the first full-size pickup truck officially launched in Korea, embodying GM's philosophy to offer domestic customers a wide range of vehicle choices and a genuine American premium brand experience. It is sold domestically as a single model, the top-tier Denali trim.
True to its heritage as an authentic American pickup truck, the Sierra features a full box frame body, powerful performance, towing capability, convenience, and practicality, along with advanced premium amenities, which garnered significant interest from Korean customers even before its release. GMC launched its campaign with the niche market message, "99% will ask tough questions, but for the 1%, the one and only that conquers all, 'Be the One.'"
Contracts for the Sierra have been available through the GMC website since the 7th. Customers can view the vehicle at 11 major GMC zones nationwide. Deliveries will proceed sequentially.
Meanwhile, Sierra buyers will receive GMC Premium Care Service, and service centers will be operated. Sierra customers can enjoy express service prioritizing regular vehicle inspections and simple consumable maintenance within the warranty period (3 years or 60,000 km) without prior reservation through GMC Premium Care Service. The ‘Pickup & Delivery Service,’ which picks up and repairs the vehicle at the customer's desired location, can be used unlimited times within the warranty period.
Additionally, a ‘Consumable Replacement Package Service’ is provided, offering free replacement of five consumables including engine oil (5 times) and air conditioning filters (3 times). Furthermore, GMC operates a dedicated brand call center and 52 GMC service centers nationwide. By the first half of 2023, this network will expand to 84 locations to establish a comprehensive domestic service network.
