Students of Dong-Eui Science University Win Big at the 'B.SORI Project Competition'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] Students of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology won numerous awards at the ‘B.SORI Project Competition’ held by 11 universities in Busan on January 18.


The B.SORI (Busan Solutions Of Regional Issues) project is a capstone design project that strengthens students' capabilities by actually solving problems of ICCs and partner companies of universities in the Busan area.


This three-month project proceeded in the order of ▲Design Thinking-based problem-solving methodology education ▲document writing skill-up training ▲expert mentoring and feedback ▲awarding prize money and certificates to outstanding teams.

At Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, Gong Mingi from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Ahn Sujin from the Department of Bio Life Pharmaceutical won the grand prize, Park Seongbeom from the Department of Chemical Engineering won the excellence award, and Shim Youngbin from the Department of AI Electronics along with 10 others received encouragement awards.


The grand prize winners Gong Mingi and Ahn Sujin chose the topic ‘Efficient introduction and utilization of digital technology in the hotel and leisure sectors,’ while excellence award winner Park Seongbeom selected the topic ‘How can we make more companies aware of the valve certification we provide?’ and proposed solutions.


The grand prize-winning team of the B.SORI project received the Dong-A University President’s Award and prize money of 1.5 million KRW, the excellence award-winning team received the Busan LINC 3.0 Council Chairman’s Award and prize money of 700,000 KRW, and the encouragement award-winning teams received the Dong-A University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation Director’s Award and prize money of 300,000 KRW.


Kim Kyungho, head of the LINC 3.0 Project Group at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, said, “This project presented many innovative ideas on topics that need to be solved at university specialized field corporate collaboration centers (ICC), achieving excellent results. We will continue to support this project steadily to promote mutual growth with the local community.”
