In particular, the indoor garden creation project aims to improve indoor air quality and provide users with a green resting space.

The project site, Namak Complex Community Center, is located in Namak New Town and provides integrated administrative services such as administration, culture, health, and medical care, with more than 700,000 visitors annually.

As a representative public facility of Muan, it plans to plant plants that are highly effective in reducing fine dust and purifying the air, and introduce an automated irrigation system to create a comfortable indoor environment and provide psychological stability such as stress relief through the indoor garden.

Prior to this, Muan-gun has continuously secured a project budget of 4 billion KRW for a total of eight sites including five community gardens, two indoor gardens, and one outdoor garden through continuous applications to the Korea Forest Service’s garden projects until 2022, and is continuing the project to respond to fine dust reduction and spread garden culture.

Governor Kim San stated, “The indoor garden creation project is expected to provide a resting space that can be a place of rest and healing for residents exhausted by COVID-19, as well as a place to raise awareness of the importance of reducing fine dust and improving air quality,” adding, “We will create an indoor garden with a story together with the residents.”

Meanwhile, the county plans to create spaces where all residents can enjoy forests, gardens, and parks around their daily lives, and plans to promote various resident participation projects such as community garden creation, small park creation on leftover land, and tree management together with gardeners trained by the county.
