How to Utilize Big Data... Gyeongnam Province Offers It for 'Free'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gyeongsangnam-do will provide year-round big data utilization consulting for residents through the Gyeongnam Big Data Center starting this year.

According to the province, the center was established on the first floor of the Gyeongnam Research Institute in July 2021 to continuously offer specialized training opportunities needed by the region and an analysis environment accessible to residents.

It holds 181 types of administrative data (DB), as well as telecommunications and card sales data, and provides comprehensive consultations on data fusion, utilization methods, and application cases.

The center also supports the use of analysis rooms equipped with programs and PC environments that allow residents to analyze data directly, and offers specialized big data training.

The consulting service is free of charge, and residents who wish to use it can apply by calling or visiting the center.

A provincial official explained, “Big data refers to large volumes of data generated in a digital environment. By understanding collection, refinement, and processing methods and managing them systematically, it is possible to analyze past and present data to predict future market conditions, which can be utilized in various fields such as startups and research activities.”
