Damyang-gun Promotes 'Unified Fare System for Rural Buses'

Applied for Boarding and Alighting within the Area, Expected to Ease Public Transportation Burden

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang-gun, Jeonnam announced on the 8th that starting from the 1st of next month, adults will be able to use the bus for 1000 won and adolescents for 100 won under the 'Rural Bus Flat Fare System.'

To this end, a bus operation agreement for the Damyang-gun Rural Bus Flat Fare System was signed today with Donggwang Damyang Express Co., Ltd.

The '1000 won Rural Bus Flat Fare System' allows passengers boarding and alighting within Damyang-gun to ride at the same fare regardless of distance: 1000 won for adults and 100 won for elementary, middle, and high school students.

The purpose is to reduce the transportation fare burden on adolescents and to promote the use of public transportation.

If boarding in Damyang and alighting in other areas such as Gwangju, or boarding in other areas and alighting in Damyang, the existing section fare system will apply.

The existing basic fare for rural buses within Damyang-gun was 1500 won for adults, 1200 won for middle and high school students, and 750 won for elementary school students.

County Governor Lee Byeongno said, “With the implementation of this rural bus flat fare system, we expect to reduce the bus fare burden for seniors and adolescents and contribute to the revitalization of public transportation. We will continue to do our best to realize universal transportation welfare for local residents.”
