The Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 8th that Governor Kim Dong-yeon delivered a handwritten letter through a provincial government employee to a woman in her 30s who gave birth to a daughter in a 119 ambulance on the 3rd and is currently recovering.
Earlier, at around 6:48 a.m. on the 3rd, a report was received that a pregnant woman in her 30s in an apartment in Poseung-eup, Pyeongtaek City, was in labor with imminent delivery. Upon arrival at the scene, paramedics Kim Ji-eun and Jeong Taek-su from Songtan Fire Station transported the pregnant woman to a nearby obstetrics and gynecology hospital. When signs of labor appeared during transport, they assisted with the delivery inside the ambulance. The mother safely gave birth to a baby girl with the help of the paramedics inside the vehicle.
In his handwritten letter, Governor Kim wrote, "Congratulations on the healthy birth and the great joy of your sixth child, shared with 14 million residents of Gyeonggi Province." Songtan Fire Station presented the mother with gifts including diapers, a newborn jacket, and seaweed.
A representative from the Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters said, "Thanks to the calm response of the paramedics, the delivery in the ambulance was successful, and both the mother and baby are healthy, which is very rewarding. We will continue to strengthen the emergency medical system that prioritizes the lives of our residents."
