Yoon Ji-oh, Jo Min on SNS: "The media is the devil itself... I support you"

"May You Live a Life of Success"

Actor Yoon Ji-oh, who claimed to be a witness in the so-called 'late Jang Ja-yeon case' but fled to Canada amid allegations of false testimony and fraud, has drawn attention by leaving a message of support on the Instagram of Cho Min, the eldest daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk.

On the 7th, Yoon commented on Cho's Instagram post, saying, "People with power break the truth and try to destroy individual lives out of their greed and avarice, and the awakened citizens are all aware of this." She added, "I am deeply sorry for just standing by and watching what is happening."

She continued, "I decided to bring this to public attention and somewhat anticipated the consequences, but the media that destroyed my life and family and reported lies as truth went beyond my expectations?it was truly the embodiment of evil." She concluded, "I sincerely hope you live a successful life and will support and pray for you more than anyone else."

In 2019, Yoon came forward as a witness to allegations of forced sexual entertainment involving the late actress Jang Ja-yeon, but doubts about the credibility of her testimony arose, and she was sued and accused of multiple charges including defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and donation fraud. She then left for Canada and has not returned since.

In May 2020, the prosecution suspended indictment against Yoon due to her overseas departure. Suspension of indictment is a temporary halt in investigation due to reasons such as the victim’s unknown whereabouts, and the investigation can resume once the reasons are resolved.

Regarding this, in July 2021, Yoon stated through her legal representative, "I am willing to return to the country and cooperate with the investigation at any time," but added, "However, my return has been delayed due to health issues and the discouragement of family and acquaintances amid the COVID-19 situation."

Nevertheless, in November 2021, Yoon described herself on Instagram as a 'whistleblower' and 'public interest reporter,' saying, "I will not be socially buried or shrink as a victim, but rather live more confidently and prove how much more upright and well I can live."

Meanwhile, on the 6th, Cho revealed in an interview with the YouTube program 'Humility is Hard - News Factory' that she had started publicly using social media after revealing her face. As of the morning of the 8th, Cho’s Instagram follower count reached 96,000. Her followers increased about ninefold within a day after appearing on the YouTube program.

In the interview, Cho said, "Watching my father receive a prison sentence made me reflect deeply on whether I was living without pride." She added, "I have lived with dignity and without shame. That’s why I decided that I want to live confidently and openly as Cho Min, not just as the daughter of Cho Kuk."
