Jeju Province aims to attract 65,000 training camp participants this year and is thoroughly promoting the attraction of training camps linked to the 2026 National Sports Festival, utilizing a dedicated training camp task force (TF) for on-site joint marketing.
In addition, to provide high-quality sports support services to training camp athletes and local athlete teams, the Jeju Sports Science Center was opened on December 24, 2018, and is currently in operation, while inspections of training facilities such as Seogwipo World Cup Stadium are being strengthened.
The Jeju Sports Science Center offers services including physical fitness measurement analysis and evaluation, exercise prescription provision and feedback, close support for outstanding athletes and strong sports disciplines, and operation of sports science classes.
Governor Oh Young-hoon of Jeju met with players and officials of Suwon Samsung Bluewings, a representative K-League club conducting training camps at Aehyang Stadium in Jeju City, the previous afternoon to extend a welcome greeting.
Governor Oh said, "I came here to support the Suwon Samsung Bluewings team training in Jeju," and added, "I hope they achieve good results this year by receiving Jeju's positive energy."
He continued, "We will strengthen the connection between training camp teams and local sports organizations so that many training teams and local athletes visiting Jeju can receive training and support based on the high-level sports science of the Jeju Sports Science Center."
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of the center's role in maintaining Jeju's status as a mecca for training camps by visiting the Jeju Sports Science Center, and requested the preparation of various programs for attracting and supporting training camp teams.
Meanwhile, Jeju Province attracted a total of 1,028 teams and 16,666 training camp athletes in January this year, and as of the end of January, 229 teams and 8,550 athletes had applied for training camp reservations in February.
