[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Renault Korea Motors announced on the 8th that it has signed a strategic partnership agreement (MOU) with Coactus, a social mobility company that employs hearing-impaired drivers.
Coactus operates the 'GoyohanM' platform, which provides on-demand car-sharing services in the Seoul area using Renault Korea Motors' LPG sport utility vehicle (SUV), the QM6 LPe.
By using GoyohanM, customers can use the QM6 driven by hearing-impaired drivers as a Goyohan taxi. Various business transportation services utilizing the spacious second-row and trunk space of the QM6 are also operated. In particular, for business transportation services, when using products or services from certified workplaces for the disabled, benefits from the Disabled Employment Linkage System can be received, which reduces up to 50% of the employment levy for hiring disabled persons.
Inside the GoyohanM service vehicles, tablets have been installed to facilitate smooth communication between passengers and hearing-impaired drivers. By speaking or inputting the destination directly into the tablet, the destination is conveyed to the hearing-impaired driver's monitor, allowing passengers to reach their desired location.
Through this partnership agreement, Renault Korea Motors will provide a GoyohanM driver rest area and dedicated parking spaces within its directly managed service centers in the Seoul area. It has also promised to support the exposure of GoyohanM advertisements on the Renault Korea website and mobile app. Additionally, to expand job opportunities for hearing-impaired drivers and promote GoyohanM, Renault Korea Motors will support Coactus with stable vehicle supply and operations. The GoyohanM business service will also be introduced for transportation services used by Renault Korea Motors employees.
Coactus will also select the Renault Korea QM6 as a primary operating vehicle for GoyohanM. Promotion of the QM6 through the GoyohanM mobile app and in-vehicle tablets will be supported.
Coactus started its business in 2020 under a regulatory sandbox demonstration exemption. Since then, it has been recognized for contributing to job creation for disabled persons and has been operating the GoyohanM transportation service as Korea's first passenger car platform operator since 2021. Currently, Coactus operates a total of 95 vehicles, of which 73 are QM6 LPe models, accounting for about 77% of the fleet.
