Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the vigorous promotion of "Chinese-style modernization," which is differentiated from the Western development model, ahead of next month's Two Sessions (the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference), the official stage for the launch of his third term in power.

According to China Central Television (CCTV) and others on the 7th, President Xi stated at the opening ceremony of the study and discussion session on the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 20th Party Congress, attended by new central committee members and alternate members who will lead China for the next five years, that "smoothly advancing Chinese-style modernization is the only and correct path to building a strong nation and national rejuvenation."

President Xi asserted that Chinese-style modernization is rooted in traditional Chinese culture, embodies the essence of scientific socialism, and draws on humanity's outstanding achievements, presenting a new form of human civilization that differs from Western modernization models.

He outlined the characteristics of Chinese-style modernization as modernization with a huge population scale, modernization in which all people jointly become prosperous, modernization that harmonizes material and spiritual civilization, modernization where humans and nature coexist harmoniously, and modernization that follows the path of peaceful development.

President Xi indicated key tasks by saying, "To promote Chinese-style modernization, it is essential to carry out work well in the first year." He emphasized, "Stability should be prioritized while pursuing growth within stability," and added, "Better planning is needed domestically and internationally, in epidemic prevention and control as well as economic and social development, and in development and security."
