Car Emission Grade System Website Registration Open Until the 24th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is accepting applications for the 'Early Retirement Support Project for Old Diesel Vehicles' until the 24th to reduce fine dust emitted from aging diesel vehicles and decrease air pollutants.
Until last year, the project only supported diesel vehicles with emission grade 5 and three types of road construction machinery, but this year, it has expanded to include diesel vehicles with emission grade 4, forklifts, and excavators, investing 1.5 billion KRW to support the early retirement of 845 old diesel vehicles (750 grade 5 vehicles and 95 grade 4 vehicles).
The eligible vehicles are diesel vehicles with emission grades 4 and 5 (for grade 4, vehicles without a diesel particulate filter (DPF) installed at the time of release), three types of road construction machinery manufactured under emission standards applied before August 31, 2009 (dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks, concrete pump trucks), forklifts and excavators manufactured according to emission standards before 2004.
Applicants must have been continuously registered in Geochang-gun for more than six months as of the application deadline, have passed the vehicle functional inspection, and be capable of normal operation.
The support amount varies depending on the vehicle type and year. For grade 4 and 5 diesel vehicles, it ranges from up to 3 million KRW to 100 million KRW, and for forklifts and excavators, it ranges from up to 16.5 million KRW to 120 million KRW. Additional subsidies may be provided depending on whether a new vehicle of grade 1, 2, or zero-emission vehicle is purchased along with the basic retirement support fund.
