[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Municipal Citizen Library will operate the 'Reading Debate Classroom Visiting Schools' program for six middle school reading clubs starting in March.
The program aims to cultivate the character and competencies necessary for living together through reading and debate. A specialized instructor majoring in reading education from Dong-A University Graduate School of Education will visit schools directly to conduct debate classes.
The debate topic books include four titles dealing with concerns about career paths and desirable friendships, such as "Fantasy Bookstore Alley" and "My Future Dream is Snowfall."
Schools wishing to participate can apply from the 7th through the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education's Public Library Integrated Reservation Portal. For other inquiries, contact the Citizen Library's Humanities and Social Sciences Department.
Cheon Jeong-suk, director of the Citizen Library, said, "Through this program, I hope students will develop the character and competencies necessary for living together by listening to others' opinions and actively expressing their own thoughts."
