[Asia Economy Reporter Seo Mideum] The grand prize of the 14th Young Writers Award 2023, hosted by Munhakdongne, was awarded to author Imisang's work "The Adventures of Aunt Sorae, Mokgyeong, and Mugeong."
According to Munhakdongne, a total of seven works, including the grand prize winner, were honored. The awarded works are ▲ Imisang's "The Adventures of Aunt Sorae, Mokgyeong, and Mugeong" ▲ Kim Mella's "Please Dream" ▲ Seong Hyeryeong's "Mushroom Farm" ▲ Lee Seosu's "The March of Young Geunhee" ▲ Jeong Seonim's "Yokata" ▲ Ham Yooni's "The Purpose of the Lacquerware Craftsman" ▲ Hyun Hojung's "Pencil Sandwich." These seven pieces were selected from short and medium-length stories published over the past year by authors with less than ten years since their debut.

The judging panel consisted of literary figures such as Kang Hwagil, Gu Hyoseo, Shin Hyeongcheol, Oh Eun-gyo, and Jeong Ihyun. The evaluation focused on "how the stability of structure and form collides with the excellence of sensibility and psychology, and to what extent the existing literary grammar has been renewed or remained stagnant."
Regarding the grand prize winner Imisang's "The Adventures of Aunt Sorae, Mokgyeong, and Mugeong," the judges commented, "It is a work boasting overwhelming momentum and presence."
To highlight and encourage young writers, all awardees receive a prize of 7 million won and a specially crafted trophy without distinction.
