[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Pearl Abyss announced on the 7th that Black Desert won the Excellence Award in the Online category at the ‘Game Star Awards 2022’ held at the Taiwan ‘Taipei Game Show 2023 (hereinafter TGS).
TGS annually holds the ‘Game Star Awards,’ selecting popular games across various platforms such as ▲PC/Online ▲Console ▲Mobile. Black Desert has won the ‘Game Star Awards’ five times since 2017.
Black Desert began service in Taiwan in 2017 and continues to be popular among local users. The game’s stunning graphics, thrilling action, and rapid updates received high praise. Pearl Abyss conducted major updates last year, including a new attempt with ‘Abyss One Magnus.’ This year, they introduced ‘Usa’ and ‘Maegu,’ the first twin characters in Black Desert.
At TGS, along with the Game Culture Foundation and the Busan Indie Connect Festival Organizing Committee (BIC), Korea’s indie game booth (BIGEM) was also supported. Pearl Abyss has participated as a BIC sponsor since 2018 to revitalize the domestic indie game ecosystem. To more actively support Korean indie game developers, the BIGEM project has been expanded and operated since 2022. BIGEM is a support project that selects eight outstanding indie games from the BIC competition exhibition and provides global promotion opportunities.
