82% of Gen Z iPhone Users Intend to Use Apple Pay

Binu Labs Releases Apple Pay Report for Generation Z

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] A survey revealed that 82% of Generation Z (born after 1995) intend to use Apple's easy payment service, 'Apple Pay.'


Vinulabs (CEO Kim Han-yi) conducted a study on the impact of Apple Pay on Generation Z's smartphone purchase intentions and released the results on the 7th. Vinulabs is the developer of 'Everytime,' a university life information sharing community platform.


The survey results showed that 82% of Generation Z responded that they intend to use Apple Pay, which is about to be launched domestically. The intention to use the service was higher among males (85%) than females (78%).

Generation Z's awareness of the Apple Pay service was 90%. If Apple Pay is officially launched, it is expected to bring changes to Generation Z's future smartphone brand choices. After explaining the Apple Pay service, the proportion of current Galaxy users among Generation Z who said they would switch to iPhone increased by 10 percentage points, from 26% to 36%.


Apple Pay is also expected to influence brand loyalty. The repurchase intention of Generation Z currently using iPhones increased by 3 percentage points to 98% after the explanation of the Apple Pay service. On the other hand, the repurchase intention of Generation Z using Galaxy decreased by 10 percentage points to 64% after the explanation of the Apple Pay service.


A Vinulabs official explained, "It is expected that the dominance of the Apple brand among university students will expand in the future."
