[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Goyang Ilsan Technovalley project in Gyeonggi-do will break ground this September.

Gyeonggi-do announced on the 7th that following the recent completion of the proposal evaluation for the technical proposal bidding of the Goyang Ilsan Technovalley construction project by the Gyeonggi-do Construction Technology Deliberation Committee, priority construction work such as demolition of existing structures and preliminary investigation of landfill waste will begin in March, followed by detailed design, leading to the commencement of the main construction in September.

The Goyang Ilsan Technovalley is an urban development project jointly undertaken by Gyeonggi-do, Goyang City, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH), and Goyang Urban Management Corporation, covering an area of 870,000㎡ (260,000 pyeong) in Daehwa-dong, Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang City. With a project cost of 850 billion KRW, the core of the project is to establish a location base for attracting innovative companies in the fields of ▲media and content ▲bio and medical ▲advanced manufacturing.

The province plans to establish a systematic and efficient construction plan, including concurrent design and construction (Fast-Track), to shorten the construction period, while applying smart construction technologies that integrate advanced technologies throughout all construction processes such as new technologies and new construction methods. In particular, efforts will be made to secure construction quality and establish disaster prevention measures specialized for various disasters, ensuring the utmost safety management against disasters and accidents during construction.

Kim Ki-beom, Director of the Urban Policy Division of the province, stated, "We will spare no administrative and policy support to ensure that companies in the key attraction industries, such as biomedical and media content sectors, move in early during the promotion of the Goyang Ilsan Technovalley project, so that it can serve as a core hub for new growth in the northern Gyeonggi region." He added, "Above all, we will do our best to ensure safety and quality throughout the project implementation process."
