[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Park Jong-won, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea·Damyang 1), recently demanded the operation of a ‘customized Neulbom School’ suitable for Jeonnam at the Jeonnam Office of Education’s work report.

According to the Jeonnam Office of Education on the 6th, about 10 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of Education will be used to gradually expand the after-school care classrooms until 8 p.m. starting next month at 40 elementary schools in the province.

‘Neulbom School’ is a program that provides high-quality integrated education and care services before and after regular classes to elementary school students who want them, in order to reduce educational disparities by strengthening the national education responsibility system.

The Office of Education plans to offer various customized programs by dividing them into urban and rural types.

Assemblyman Park Jong-won said, “If children stay at school longer due to the extended operating hours of Neulbom School, it may have adverse emotional effects,” and added, “Specialized programs should be provided, and continuous safety inspections should be conducted to ensure there are no operational deficiencies.”

He continued, “Since it is difficult to provide meals during evening care, snacks are being provided to the children,” and added, “Please strengthen on-site inspections to ensure that substandard food is not provided and thoroughly prepare to prevent hygiene problems.”
