Two Missing Persons from 'Cheongboho' Found in Cardiac Arrest

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Two missing persons were additionally found in a state of cardiac arrest inside the overturned 'Cheongboho' vessel off the coast of Sinan, Jeonnam.


According to Mokpo Maritime Police Station on the 6th, at around 11:54 a.m., one missing person was found in the stern bedroom of the Cheongboho, and at around 12:03 p.m., another missing person was found in the same location.

The maritime police found the missing persons during a search operation inside the vessel earlier that morning.


They are being transported to a hospital on land, and their identities are also being confirmed.


The missing persons are estimated to be one Korean and one foreigner.


Earlier that morning, the chief engineer was found deceased in a bedroom near the engine room inside the vessel.


So far, out of the nine missing persons, three have died, and six remain missing.


The rescue authorities are attempting to raise the vessel using a 200-ton crane ship as part of the search efforts to recover the missing persons.


If raising the vessel proves difficult due to strong currents, an alternative plan is in place to move the vessel near Ipjado and attempt to raise it in calmer waters.


The Cheongboho capsized due to flooding at around 11:19 p.m. on the 4th in the sea 16.6 km west of Daebichi-do, Jaewon-ri, Imja-myeon, Sinan-gun, resulting in a human casualty accident.
