Overcoming Export Crisis and Strengthening Capabilities in the Automotive Industry
Busan Plant Meeting Hosted by Vice Mayor Lee Seong-gwon at 2 PM on the 6th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City will hold a meeting at 2 p.m. on the 6th at the Renault Korea Motors Busan Plant, chaired by Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Seongwon Lee, to overcome the crisis faced by Renault Korea Motors and its partner companies due to the recent rise in automobile export logistics costs.
The meeting was organized to share the measures the city has taken so far to overcome the export crisis in the local automobile industry and future countermeasures, as well as to listen to the difficulties faced by the industry.
In addition to Renault Korea Motors and its partner companies, many related organizations such as the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Busan Economic Promotion Agency, Busan Research Institute, Busan Technopark, Korea Automotive Technology Institute, and Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials will attend the meeting to brainstorm practical solutions to overcome the crisis.
The city has been continuously communicating with the local business community to resolve the export crisis in the local finished car industry caused by the recent rise in logistics costs, with Mayor Hyung-joon Park actively engaging. Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Seongwon Lee has directly met with the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries and the Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy to strongly propose support measures and has held multiple working-level meetings with the government and related agencies to seek solutions.
The matters discussed at the meeting will also be compiled and proposed to the government to derive practical support measures.
Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Seongwon Lee stated, “We will do our best to overcome the automobile export crisis together with the central government, local finished car manufacturers, and partner companies,” and added, “We will steadily promote projects to facilitate the transition of local parts companies to future vehicles and strengthen export capabilities.”
