HiteJinro Launches Limited Edition Sparkling Beer 'Filite Purine Cut'

HiteJinro announced on the 6th that it will be the first in Korea to launch a low-purine sparkling beer called 'Filite Purine Cut.' In line with the growing 'healthy pleasure' trend, the company plans to introduce a purine-reduced sparkling beer and strengthen its position as the overwhelming No.1 brand in the domestic sparkling beer market.


The newly introduced Filite Purine Cut significantly reduces the purine content, a component known to cause gout. The purine content is only 2mg per 355ml can, which is 90% lower than the existing Filite Fresh. Despite the drastic reduction in purine, the product enhances a cool and refreshing throat sensation through Filite's unique fresh low-temperature maturation process. The new product is being released in limited quantities to capture the emerging market demand amid the recent increase in interest in various sparkling beers.


In Japan, where the sparkling beer market is well developed, low-purine products have been released since 2013 and continue to grow steadily. HiteJinro developed a purine-reduced sparkling beer in 2017 and has a history of producing it through an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) method for export to Japan.


Oh Seong-taek, Executive Director of Marketing at HiteJinro, said, “Due to many consumers’ concerns about gout, we decided to launch a new product with reduced purine. Just as Filite pioneered the sparkling beer market in Korea, we believe ‘Filite Purine Cut’ will become a new milestone for purine-reduced sparkling beers in the country.”
