Geu In-mo, Mayor of Geochang County, Listens to Voices of Residents in 12 Towns and Townships

Listening to Over 300 Suggestions, Actively Reflecting Them in Military Administration

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, visited 12 eup and myeon from January 26 to February 3 to introduce Geochang-gun's major projects and listen to the voices of the residents.

Starting with Gabuk-myeon on the 26th of last month, and ending with Jusang-myeon on the 3rd, the event was held on a schedule visiting two eup and myeon per day, attended by many resident representatives such as village chiefs, heads of major institutions and organizations, and members of residents' autonomy committees.

During the event period, the county plans to handle over 300 resident-requested projects through on-site investigations and budget securing.

Gu In-mo, Governor of Geochang County, Gyeongnam, is listening to the voices of residents during visits to towns and townships.

This event also attracted attention by holding a commissioning ceremony for 244 members of residents' autonomy committees from 9 eup and myeon.

County Governor Goo In-mo personally handed out the certificates of appointment to the members and asked them to actively engage in the development and revitalization of the residents' autonomy committees during their two-year term.

In the report on major county government achievements, key accomplishments were shared, including ▲solving difficult issues such as the detention center and theater festival ▲ranking first in satisfaction with life among county areas according to the Gyeongnam Province social survey ▲dramatic improvement of the traffic system through expansion of roundabouts ▲solving Geochang-gun's 50-year long-standing projects such as the opening of the southern bypass road and environmental maintenance of Dongsan Village ▲and the leap toward the era of one million forest tourism visitors, receiving enthusiastic responses from the attending residents.

Furthermore, starting this year with the full launch of the 8th elected administration, the county plans to promote ▲the creation of the Geochang-type administrative medical town (regional responsible medical institution, Happy Mom Community Center, public postpartum care center) ▲construction of a crematorium ▲promotion of local long-standing projects such as the opening of the southern bypass road and environmental maintenance of Dongsan Village ▲the beginning of the 1 trillion won budget era ▲introduction of a cost price guarantee system for agricultural products ▲solving the rural labor shortage problem ▲maintaining a population of 60,000 and achieving first place in population among county areas in Gyeongnam Province, pledging to work hard for a happy Geochang for all residents.

Governor Goo said, “During the 7th elected administration, the county government achieved numerous accomplishments with the support and encouragement of the residents,” and added, “Although the responsibility of managing the county government in the 8th elected administration is heavy on my shoulders, I will do my best to complete the ‘Greater Geochang Leap and the Era of Resident Happiness.’”
