Shin Pyung on 'Yoon's New Party Formation' Controversy: Kim Yong-tae Asks, "Will Kim Ki-hyun Also Leave the Party?" (Comprehensive)

"Kim, Are You Considering Leaving the Party if You Don't Become Party Leader?" Targeted
Lee Jun-seok: "If This Thought Existed Before the Presidential Election, It Would Be a Huge Scandal"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Kim Yong-tae, a candidate for the Supreme Council member in the People Power Party's March 8 party convention, on the 5th urged Kim Ki-hyun, the party leader candidate who has Shin Pyeong, a lawyer, as his campaign chairman, to clarify his position regarding Shin's remarks about forming a new party.

On the same day, Kim posted on his Facebook, "Is it possible that candidate Kim Ki-hyun is considering leaving the party if he does not become the party leader?" and added, "If not, candidate Kim should immediately dismiss lawyer Shin Pyeong and sincerely apologize to the party members."

Previously, former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok and candidate Kim have continuously criticized the 'possibility of President Yoon Seok-yeol forming a new party' mentioned by lawyer Shin.

Former leader Lee wrote on his Facebook, "Mr. Shin Pyeong caused a controversy yesterday and today is making even more serious remarks in a follow-up interview," adding, "He is testifying that the President had thoughts of leaving the People Power Party since the time he was a presidential candidate or even before."

Lawyer Shin, who posted on Facebook the day before, said in an interview with OhmyNews on the same day, "President Yoon had doubts about whether he should continue to be part of the People Power Party since he was a candidate or even before that."

Sharing the article, former leader Lee said, "He is expressing this not as his own thought but as President Yoon Seok-yeol's thought," and added, "If the President really had such thoughts during the presidential election, it is a huge scandal. I thought it was a slip of the tongue or a misunderstanding, but it is becoming more concrete."

He continued, "He is even talking about a political realignment through former leader Kim Han-gil," and questioned, "Is this person revealing a foretold truth or is he delusional?"

Candidate for Supreme Council member Kim Yong-tae also called it a "clear insult to party members," and urged, "Emergency Response Committee Chairman Jeong Jin-seok should mobilize all available organizations, whether the Ethics Committee or the Party Affairs Audit Committee, to investigate the party member insult incident involving candidate Kim Ki-hyun's campaign chairman and clarify the facts."

Kim criticized, "It seems necessary for the Presidential Office to also clearly state its position on this serious matter," and added, "If lawyer Shin's words are true, was the dedication of countless party members who worked hard for President Yoon Seok-yeol's election during the presidential campaign for a candidate who does not even trust the party?"
