Shinan-gun Forms Fishing Vessel Accident Recovery Headquarters... Supports Search for Over 200 Fishing Vessels

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Regarding the fishing vessel capsizing accident off the coast of Sinan, Jeonnam, Sinan-gun has formed an accident response headquarters and started support efforts.


On the 5th, according to Sinan-gun, to find the 9 missing persons from the fishing vessel, about 200 fishing boats belonging to the Imja-myeon fishing cooperative, which are familiar with the nearby waters, will be mobilized to support search operations by the Coast Guard and others. Additionally, a waiting room for the families of the missing persons is being operated in the second-floor conference room of the Sinan Fisheries Cooperative, and a medical support team has been formed to manage the health of the families of the missing.


One ambulance and five health care workers have been deployed.


A comprehensive situation room involving Jeonnam Province and others is being operated, and a field situation room will also be set up at the Imja-myeon office.


Meanwhile, the Coast Guard is conducting search operations in the waters around Imjado, where the fishing vessel capsized, deploying 24 patrol vessels, 3 naval ships, 2 civilian fishing boats, 1 government vessel, and 6 aircraft. The Coast Guard is installing lifting bags on the fishing vessel to prevent it from sinking further and is also conducting underwater searches.
