Recent Remarks Seem Targeted at Assemblyman Ahn Cheol-soo... Discomfort Over Mention of 'Yoon-Ahn Alliance'
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] It was reported on the 5th that President Yoon Seok-yeol warned, "Those who try to gain political advantage by using the baseless term 'Yoonhaekgwan' will henceforth be regarded as disruptors and enemies of national governance."
Earlier, Ahn Cheol-soo, a candidate for the People Power Party leadership, appeared on a YouTube channel on the 3rd and mentioned Yoonhaekgwan, saying, "Those people do not care about the president's safety but only about their next nomination." President Yoon's warning was aimed at Ahn's remarks, and he recently told his aides, "(Yoonhaekgwan) is not something a responsible party politician should say."
In particular, President Yoon said, "I am willing to accept sound criticism of those around the president," but also showed his inner thoughts by saying, "Isn't 'Yoonhaekgwan' an expression intended to directly attack and insult the president?"
President Yoon also expressed discomfort over Ahn's promotion of the 'Yoon-Ahn Alliance' (the alliance between President Yoon and Ahn). He pointed out, "Given the grave economic and security situation, it is extremely unreasonable behavior to drag the president, the highest national leader and commander-in-chief of the armed forces, into the party convention and talk about the 'Yoon-Ahn Alliance.'"
Earlier, Ahn had referred to it as "an unusually well-matched alliance, the Yoon-Ahn Alliance, the alliance between President Yoon and Ahn Cheol-soo" during recent party member meetings.
