Opening on the 21st... 51 In-Person Courses Available
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Seoul Citizen University, which provides Seoul citizens with broad and in-depth learning opportunities, announced on the 6th that it will begin recruiting students for the ‘2023 Special Semester’ starting tomorrow.
Seoul Citizen University has reorganized its academic calendar from the previous two semesters (spring and fall) to four semesters starting this year to provide citizens with continuous educational opportunities throughout the year. The four-semester curriculum of Seoul Citizen University will consist of ▲Special Semester (February to March), ▲1st Semester (April to July), ▲Seasonal Semester (August), and ▲2nd Semester (September to December).
Additionally, from this special semester, Seoul Citizen University will restructure its curriculum into three educational programs designed to cultivate lifelong competencies needed by citizens in response to changing times: ‘Adding Wisdom,’ ‘Multiplying Careers,’ and ‘Sharing Seoul.’ ‘Adding Wisdom’ focuses on acquiring knowledge necessary to understand oneself, others, and the world; ‘Multiplying Careers’ strengthens growth drivers by predicting future changes and planning one’s life independently; and ‘Sharing Seoul’ is an educational program that helps understand the global city of Seoul based on civilizational and humanities knowledge.
The special semester of Seoul Citizen University, starting on the 21st, will offer a total of 51 courses, including thematic lectures that explore the trends and future prospects of 2023 under the slogan ‘A New Beginning, Mutual Growth.’ Courses range from one-day special lectures, which are easy for first-time attendees to take, to courses with up to four sessions.
Applications for this special semester will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 10 a.m. on the 7th through the Seoul Lifelong Learning Portal. Information on each course can be found on the Seoul Lifelong Education Promotion Institute’s website, and program booklets are available at each campus of Seoul Citizen University. For more detailed information, inquiries can be made at the headquarters campus or the Southeast Campus of Seoul Citizen University.
Lee Kyung-ah, Director of the Citizen University Division at the Seoul Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, stated, “We have reorganized the operating system so that any Seoul citizen can easily access high-quality courses that help improve lifelong competencies essential for living in future society.” She added, “In the Year of the Black Rabbit (Gyemyo Year), Seoul Citizen University will actively support learning that helps citizens’ lives grow and leap forward to the next level.”
