Eunpyeong-gu Provides Public Jobs for 204 People with Disabilities

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it will provide jobs to a total of 204 people through the 2023 Disabled Persons Job Project.

The "Disabled Persons Job" project provides jobs to unemployed registered disabled persons aged 18 and over, supporting the expansion of social participation and income security for disabled people, who are a vulnerable group in employment.

This year, Eunpyeong-gu's related budget increased by 16% compared to the previous year, reaching 3.221 billion KRW. The number of participants is a total of 204, which is 20 more than last year. Participants in the Disabled Persons Job Project receive 76,960 KRW per day based on the minimum wage of 9,620 KRW for 8 hours of work per day.

This year, Eunpyeong-gu's Disabled Persons Job Project is promoted in three types: General (full-time and part-time), Welfare, and Specialized (assistant caregivers for people with developmental disabilities).

The general type jobs, which the district directly hires for, include full-time 40 hours per week and part-time 20 hours per week, selecting 97 participants. They are assigned to 34 institutions such as community service centers, welfare centers, and libraries, actively performing tasks such as administrative assistance, librarian assistance, and guidance in disabled parking zones.

The welfare and specialized jobs promoted by each executing institution assign 94 and 13 participants respectively. The specialized jobs, which involve assistant caregiver duties, are currently recruiting participants with developmental disabilities at each executing institution. For inquiries, please contact the Disabled Welfare Division.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “We will actively strive to promote the Disabled Persons Job Project to expand opportunities for social participation and activate independent living for disabled people.”
