Sonid and New Korea Electronics & Telecommunications Join Hands for 'AI Robot Disaster and Hazard Prevention Project'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Sonyde (CEO Choi Simyeong), a KOSDAQ-listed company, announced on the 3rd that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with New Korea Electronics & Telecommunications, an integrated safety system specialist supplying public safety platforms to Seoul City and local governments nationwide, regarding the ‘AI Robot Disaster/Risk Prevention Project.’

The two companies will form an integrated task force (TF) team to collaborate on developing and selling a disaster prevention and risk avoidance platform utilizing autonomous driving robots. They also plan to concretize the platform so that potential customers such as the government, local governments, and corporations can adopt and utilize it in actual target projects.

New Korea Electronics & Telecommunications is a specialist company in integrated safety systems that develops and supplies integrated control (intelligent CCTV/video surveillance systems), IP broadcasting systems, parking control, and IoT solutions. It supplies public safety platforms to Seoul City and local governments nationwide, including projects such as ‘Seoul City Public Wi-Fi Integrated Maintenance’ and ‘Smart Seoul Safety Net Service and Control System Maintenance Services.’ Last year, it contributed to winning the grand prize (Presidential Award) at the ‘Korea Local Autonomy Management Competition’ through the ‘Guro-type Smart Pole Construction Project’ in Guro-gu.

Additionally, through research and development projects such as the Ministry of Science and ICT’s ‘5G Communication-based Smart City Dedicated Intelligent Social Public Safety Platform Development,’ it is contributing to the formation of social public safety platforms that integrate AI information communication devices and IoT integrated networks.

Under this agreement, New Korea Electronics & Telecommunications will be responsible for sales, business management, securing funds, and investment necessary for the collaborative project. Sonyde will oversee solution development through the robot technologies of its subsidiaries Sonyde Robotics and Defense Korea. Sonyde Robotics will develop AI autonomous driving software for autonomous robots, develop software platforms for disaster prevention and risk avoidance for robots, and equip other necessary devices (such as radar) on the robot systems. Defense Korea will handle the import and administrative tasks related to robots (such as quadruped walking, 6X6, etc.) and auxiliary equipment mounted on the robots required for the project.

Choi Simyeong, CEO of Sonyde, said, “Last year, the Ministry of Employment and Labor announced the ‘Serious Accident Reduction Roadmap’ to improve the effectiveness of the Serious Accident Punishment Act by shifting industrial accident prevention from a punishment-centered approach to a self-regulation method. The key point is for labor and management to jointly enhance industrial accident prevention capabilities based on responsibility.”

He added, “We expect the ‘AI Robot Disaster Prevention and Risk Avoidance Platform’ developed and supplied by the two companies to be a core element of the Serious Accident Reduction Roadmap. We will do our best to ensure this project yields meaningful results.”
