According to the Jeju Coast Guard on the 3rd, a report was received that the captain in his 60s of fishing vessel A (198t/large purse seine/Busan/10 crew members), which was navigating about 41 km northeast off Udo, Jeju City, lost consciousness and collapsed at around 4:50 PM the previous day.
Upon receiving the report, the Jeju Coast Guard urgently dispatched a 500-ton patrol vessel that was on duty in the nearby waters, boarded the emergency patient Mr. B at around 5:10 PM, and fortunately, he regained consciousness. However, since his condition was poor and he was unable to move, a helicopter from the aviation unit waiting at Jeju Airport was urgently dispatched at around 5:31 PM.
The patrol vessel, en route to the emergency patient handover meeting point, met the helicopter at about 37 km north off Udo at around 5:52 PM, and transferred Mr. B using an aerial rescuer and hoist.
The helicopter moved at full speed and landed at a large hospital in Jeju City at around 6:30 PM, safely handing over Mr. B to the medical staff.
Meanwhile, the total number of emergency patients transported by the Jeju Coast Guard this year is seven, including two by aircraft, two by patrol vessels, and two by coastal rescue boats.
