[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Microsoft announced on the 3rd that it has officially launched 'Teams Premium.'

Teams Premium incorporates the latest technologies, including OpenAI's large language model (LLM) GPT-3.5. It integrates artificial intelligence (AI) technology throughout the meeting experience to help enhance productivity.

The Intelligent Recap feature automatically generates meeting notes, recommended tasks, and customized highlights, making it easy to grasp important information even if you were unable to attend the meeting. After the meeting ends, a GPT-3.5-based AI will automatically create notes that immediately highlight key points and suggest follow-up action items.

The AI-generated Chapters feature divides meetings into sections so users can quickly view the content most relevant to them. Currently available in PowerPoint Live, the AI automatically segments recorded videos based on meeting transcripts.

The Custom Timeline Markers feature helps users easily find specific points when reviewing recorded meeting transcripts. It marks the times when participants enter and leave the meeting room, allowing users to quickly locate missed content with a single click. This feature will later be expanded to include points where names are mentioned and screens are shared.

The Presenter Timeline Markers feature will also be introduced soon, showing who spoke and when during the meeting. Users can easily jump to a specific presenter’s segment to listen again, ensuring managers and others do not miss feedback shared during the meeting.

The AI-powered real-time translation feature automatically translates the presenter’s speech into the attendees’ languages and provides captions. It supports 40 languages, including Korean, enabling organizations to reduce costs related to interpretation. Even if only the meeting organizer uses Teams Premium, all attendees can utilize this feature.

The Branded Meeting feature, available from mid-February, displays the user’s company logo and brand colors to all participants. Currently, company-approved branded backgrounds can be used in Together Mode and other views.

Advanced Meeting Protection upgrades security for confidential business meetings without disrupting the meeting experience. It offers new meeting options such as watermarking to prevent information leaks and restricting who can record. End-to-end encryption can be applied for meetings requiring the highest level of confidentiality.

The Virtual Appointment feature allows external attendees to join a virtual branded lobby room via text message or email on any device’s browser without downloading an app.

Teams Premium includes features for hosting large-scale events like webinars, where presenters can have time and space in a separate green room to conduct briefings or tests without disturbing attendees.

Meanwhile, Microsoft added over 400 new features and improvements to Teams last year and plans to add even more this year. Teams currently has 280 million monthly active users worldwide.
