Kyungwoon University plans to take a leading role in the coexistence of the Asian region and the development of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area by providing local students in CIS countries and Central Asian countries with major and Korean language education, as well as basic education for settling in Korea.
At the center of Kyungwoon University's international cooperation projects are local industry-academia cooperation centers and the operation of Sejong Institutes.
Since the mid-2000s, Kyungwoon University has developed a developing country-type industry-academia cooperation model and has established industry-academia cooperation centers in underdeveloped Asian countries such as Vietnam, the Philippines, and Mongolia, conducting activities such as industry-academia cooperation education for local students, corporate support, and support for local companies entering the market.
Additionally, Kyungwoon University has established Sejong Institutes, Korean language education institutions under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in Vietnam, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan, actively providing Korean language and settlement education for local students.
The delegation, including Moon Chu-yeon, Vice President of Kyungwoon University, is having a conversation with officials from Tashkent State Medical University in Uzbekistan.
Kyungwoon University plans to actively expand industry-academia cooperation projects and talent development projects in CIS countries and Central Asian countries. To this end, on the 1st, Kyungwoon University held a mutual cooperation ceremony with Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA) in Uzbekistan to foster excellent healthcare personnel and promote industry-academia cooperation between the two universities, and decided to establish an industry-academia cooperation center in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
The university plans to actively engage in healthcare personnel training and 2+2 education with Tashkent Medical Academy, and through the local industry-academia cooperation center, carry out corporate entry support, industry-academia exchanges with local companies, and global educational activities for enrolled students.
On the same day, Kyungwoon University promised to jointly carry out a regional development project with Sallyu, mayor of Nurabzan City, Tashkent Province, and agreed to establish a cooperative system. Along with local talent development and Korean settlement, they also agreed to collaborate on industry-academia cooperation projects with Nurabzan City.
Moon Chu-yeon, Director of University Innovation at Kyungwoon University, said, “Our university has decided to serve as a CIS-specialized regional support base university targeting the Commonwealth of Independent States, which has high growth potential and strong demand for advancement into Korea, and has begun full-scale activities. We consider the Asian region as a community and will prepare ways for coexistence, ultimately playing a role in regional development.”
